„"Abitare" (2015) – from the Italian for "to live" – is a series of works in which the artist sought to capture and present all the factors that constitute a dwelling. Dwelling means building a space around oneself using objects of varying appearance, shape, color, and function. It means settling in, creating a relationship with one's surroundings, and claiming space and things for oneself. Tomasz Ciecierski translated these factors into the language closest to his heart – the language of painting – and created his own compositions based on photographs from the Italian interior design and architecture magazine – the eponymous "Abitare." A series of collages of the same title (2014) focuses on the potential hidden in everyday objects and elements of the immediate environment. Ciecierski created compositions by juxtaposing abstract visualization elements, landscapes, furniture, architecture, and drapery. Carefully selected photographs and their cut-out fragments create a light-weight construction based on color, shape, the subject and its dynamics, and an internal network of interrelationships. Despite their abstract form, the works speak to the artist's inner discipline.
